A first Trinity church in polychrome wood was built in 1852 on the rue de Clichy, instead of the second Tivoli1, nowadays Casino de Paris.
The church was relocated a few hundred meters below, instead of the Cabaret de la Grande Pinte, as part of the transformation of Paris during the Second Empire, by Baron Haussmann as requested by Emperor Napoleon III.
The construction began in 1861 and was completed in 1867. The project architect was Théodore Ballu. The structure is very impressive. It is 90 m long, 34 m wide, 30 m high and has a 65 m high tower.
A great French composer has occupied the position of organist during 60 years in this church. He is Olivier Messiaen, the teacher of my piano teacher.
